My Charity

After being crowned Miss Pennsylvania Teen, I was approached by a little girl and her mother. While they congratulated me on receiving the state title, the little girl admired my crown and asked if I would sign her program. I was a little taken back at first, beings I was asked to sign a book for someone; after all I'm still just Erin from Boyertown. I knelt down to her level and began to talk to her as I was signing her program. At that moment I realized how much God has entrusted in me, and now more then ever I have the privilege to share with every little girl His story. I sat my crown on top of her head and she lit up; for every little girl dreams of her "crown".  We chatted a little more and as  I finished writing my name for the first time as Miss Pa Teen Erin Joy Good, I discovered that I now have the opportunity to make a difference!

The past few years I have spent numerous hours at Children's Hospital with my dear little brothers and personally witnessed test after test that many young children go through.  I realize, here is where I can make a difference!  My charity is going to be set up for terminally ill Children.  I will be working with the Children's Miracle Network to raise money for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.  That is not my only purpose for this charity;  I want to as well personally deliever crowns that are designed by me for each of the dear girls. I want them to still know and feel that they are a princess! I didn't forget about the little boys.  I want each of them to get their very own badge of courage.  These little men are certainly "heros" in my eyes.  The badge of courage is something that we did with my little brother Robbie as he went through many horrific medical tests just last year.  I know this will not heal these dear little ones, but I pray I can be an encouragement to them and their familes as they go through these trying times.  To see a smile on each little face will by far make my crown have a purpose of true lasting value.

WOW : Laura
Wow. That story really made me cry. I was in National American Miss too but i didnt win because this was my first year. I hope that when i win i will be able to feel the same way you felt when the little girl asked you to sign her program and seeing her face when you put the crown on her head. You are very sweet if i ever win a pageant or i might even do it now, i will do the same thing you are doing now. Congratulations on winning and you are a wonderful roll model to me now.

What an inspiration! : Joy
dMy name is Joy, I am 13 and entering my first state pageant this August. You're an inspiration because you were just like me! I thought "oh, I guess I will just give this pageant thing a try." I'm a 4.0 student like you, too. Now I want to do more with my pageant experience and make a difference in my community, state, and hopefully my country! I also know that it really IS possible to win the pageant on your first year.
